AUDIO: Nirvana Jam Covers

After a long night of raging with Gramatik and Break Science at The Blockley in Philadelphia last night, today was a little hazy and I completely overlooked a very important and sad day in rock history. Eighteen years ago on April 5th in 1994, the music world was shocked with the loss of a game changing artist. We all know the story. So to keep his spirit alive, here are a few soundboard jam covers I found on Archive.org to share with you.

Dopapod covers In Bloom at The Music Cafe in Plainfield, CT on December 10th, 2010.

Ween covers “Come As You Are” on NYE at John and Peter’s in New Hope, PA in 2002.

Trambled By Turtles performs At The Fair > Something in the Way at Rascal’s Bar in Winona, MN on February 5th, 2005.

and a few non soundboards, but what the hell, it’s god damn Nirvana!

The Disco Biscuits encore with Lithium at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI on on July 18th, 2007.

Umphrey’s McGee mashes up MGMT’s “Kids” with Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Right Round” during the Halloween run at the Tabernacle in Atlanta last year.

Scarecrow Collection covers “Polly” at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck, NJ on 4/20 in 2007.

and of course, from one of the greatest and surprising moments in Phish tour history.

RIP Kurt Cobain

and my favorite nirvana moment…
