MP3 OF THE DAY: Happy 68th Birthday Peter Tosh
Posted by jaybird | Filed under MP3 of The Day, Videos

Today would have marked the 68th birthday of reggae icon Peter Tosh had his life not been cut short due to a home robbery and murder on September 11th, 1987. Tosh opened up my world to how reggae could actually sound outside the traditional ska and roots foundation.
He was the Jimi Hendrix of reggae adding ripping solos over those back beat Jamaican dubs. How could you not love a man with a guitar built to look like an M-16? It was because of Peter that EB has such a deep passion and influence of reggae music, Marley and The Wailers (and everyone after) would simply be the cherry on the top.

My birthday gift to Peter Tosh today is to share his music with as many people willing and selecting a few choice jam covers to download. Plus, a “Behind The Music” Peter Tosh documentary to bring you up to speed on this great spirit in case he slipped through your musical cracks. Happy birthday Peter. You are truly treasured among music’s elite.
