VIDEO: JJ Grey and Mofro ’99 Shades of Crazy’

JJ Grey and Mofro are currently on tour in support of their latest studio release, This River, on Alligator Records. According to Grey, “Many of the new songs are about being your own worst enemy, and about normal people pushing themselves over the edge.” This video of “99 Shades of Crazy” captures the expressions in which the band is trying to portray on the new record. JJ Grey and Mofro brought in long-time friend and director Brendan Daly (Spookie Daly Pride) to put an interesting twist on a summer classic youth sport.

JJ Grey and Mofro Announce New Album and Spring Tour

Jacksonville-based singer/songwriter JJ Grey will release THIS RIVER on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. This is Grey’s seventh album (his fifth for Alligator Records) and his first studio album since 2010′s acclaimed Georgia Warhorse. The New York Times says Grey’s singing is “impassioned” and the band plays “riff-based Southern rock, cold-blooded swamp funk and sly Memphis soul.”

Last night, JJ Grey and Mofro brought their soulful funky swamp rock blues to Philadelphia’s Union Transfer and put on quite the show. The band had such a great time with the audience that they decided to do a double encore which Grey informed the crowd that it only one of the tour to get it.
