Tonight on EB ep.700: Jake Cinninger Interview, Phish at Bader Field 3-Day Passes Giveaway, and more!
Tonight we celebrate a very special night on Endless Boundaries Jam Radio and Z889 WBZC-FM. This program started 14 years ago back in the winter of 1998 with the basis of playing something unique called “Jamband” music. My program director had no idea what is was or who I’d be playing on the radio.
The word Jambands was still being coined by Dean Budnick of Jambands.com at the time and I told the boss Endless Boundaries will featuring this group called Phish for an hour and all the music similar to The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, and bands he’d never heard of before (The Disco Biscuits, The String Cheese Incident, ect).
EB originally aired on Z889 WBZC-FM Tuesday nights from 10p-2a, but when an opportunity came up for EB to move to Saturday nights and be sandwiched in between great friends and programs (Sounds of the Caribbean & Gagliarchives), I took it. Talk about a perfect fit of having a reggae culture segue-way into jamband music into progressive rock programming on the radio dial. A lineup that hasn’t changed on Z889 in over 10 years.
Fast forward to present day and after all the bands who’ve come and gone in the scene and those who continue to carry the live music torch on stage, Endless Boundaries will embark on its 700th broadcast tonight. And with all those interviews, mistakes, giveaways, and more, I look forward to reaching one step closer to the 1000th benchmark in radio broadcasting with my baby, Endless Boundaries.
To help share in this special occasion, Jake Cinninger of Umphrey’s McGee will be on the show to talk about his new side project release, OHmphrey. Just another check on the EB bucketlist and a truly great individual to have on tonight’s program. Also, yesterday launched your first shot to get registered to win a pair of 3-Day passes to see Phish live at Bader Field in Atlantic City on June 15th – 17th. Tune in tonight for another chance.
Plus we’ll check out new music from John Butler Trio, Xavier Rudd, Lettuce, Everyone Orchestra, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, The Grateful Dead, and more. I’ll even try to break out some old EB recordings and let you hear just how awful my pubescent voice sounded like. Oh! and I’ll have passes to see Dark Star Orchestra, Keller Williams, and The Wailers live at Great Plaza River Stage in Penn’s Landing on May 27th!
Endless Boundaries goes live at 6pmEST on Z889, 95.1 and 100.7 FM in Philadelphia and South Jersey, worldwide at z889.org, and directly to your mobile phones with the Z889 iPhone App or Droid users can download Shoutcast/Tuned In/Hi Def Radio or any radio app and search “Z889″.
Till Tonight, Stay Tuned!
