VIDEO: STS9 Covers Thriller (With Horn Section) For Great Cycle Spectacle Halloween Opener at Philly’s Tower Theater

STS9 brought their Great Cycle Spectacle tour to Philadelphia’s Tower Theater last night along with a special Halloween adventure. The band previously covered Michael Jackson’s “holiday” classic at the Fox Theater in Atlanta a few days ago so we kind of thought they would bust this out again for the special Halloween occasion. Um, yea, we got it and more!
How about a horn section, other covers including 2001, The White Stripes (I know I heard it, but it didn’t show up on their twitter feed), The Rolling Stones, The Cure, and Daft Punk (see White Stripes note), a Halloween video montage mixed with tripped out acid warp, and staple STS9 jam vehicles.
Below is a video I recorded for their opener. EDIT: there’s a brief moment where i try to change lenses for a closer look. I thought I could be quick to change, but hard to do in the dark. #excusesfornotbeingapro. If you’re thinking of catching STS9′s remaining Great Cycle Spectacle shows in Boston or NYC, DO IT!
